Deux-ling cafes
Side by side they stand. Paris's most famous artists, writers and visitors alike have flocked to these cafes for decades. They are both popular, but if you love one, you hate the other. And vice-versa. The passionate debates for one over the other just facinates me. Why can't you like both? I'll be frequenting many cafes on my upcoming visit. So I ask you...which one do you prefer? And if you had to pick your favorite other than these two....which one would it be?

Oh, I couldn't tell without having been there a couple of times.
Here in Vienna, I have more than one cafe' I like to frequent, depending on my mood and time of day.

I bet they are all good ;)

I have never been to Paris so I could not choose between the two, but from my recent experience with bakeries and their goods in Quebec City/Canada and from living in Europe for most of my life I think all cafes over there have something wonderful to offer. I would go to both :)

Elke,
I like the way you think ;)

Will you be there in October?
Want to meet?
Carolg :)

Carol,
I am leaving on the 18th and returning on the 28th. *Yeah..counting down* Would have loved to meet up with you in Paris....but I am only a train ride away from NYC...so maybe we could meet up there and do a 'Paris' meeting in a cafe :)

I would choose to stop at any of the cafes in Paris. I particularly enjoyed the fact that if one chooses to sit all day, then that is what they can do...no waiter rushing over with the check as we have here in the US. I loved sitting in the Tuilleries and looking at the pond with the statues..the busy Left Bank cafes are fun. The lovely spots in the Vendome are the places to watch the rich and famous.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Terry,
It is true..they all have their charms. It is so relaxing too ;)

I've only been to Les Deux Magots. I had to choose between the 2 cafes, and after doing "eeny, meeny, miny, mo", that's what I came up with. I had a delicious quiche, which I enjoyed in a very relaxed atmosphere. It was noontime, and I felt that I desperately needed to cool off since it was about a million degrees outside, so I took advantage of the fact that I was right there and I could finally try out one of the famous cafes that I had heard so much about. Like I said before, my quiche was very good, but it probably wasn't any better than the less expensive ones I had had on other occasions in other unknown cafes.
As for my favorite cafe, it is without a doubt "Cafe Angelina", and the reason for that is the decor. I felt like I was in a little palace when I was there. It wasn't cheap, but the atmosphere was very special to me.

Chouzy,
Sounds like you had a fab time there. I so very much hope that I will make it to Angelina this time...for the chocolat chaud, of course! ;)

I didn't have time to go to either, I just had to walk on by. But I agree, if you have time, WHY NOT both?
--------------------------------------------------------
We only had time for one. Stay tuned and I'll tell you which one :)
