Sweet Springtime

Lilacs2_2

Sweet, fragrant clusters of blossoms
Delicate, graceful lilliputian stars
Shades of violet, lavender and periwinkle blue
Lovely, just lovely
Can you smell them for there?

The first round of Lilacs made their way into my kitchen this week thanks to my other half.

Their delicious aroma fills my home with the sweet smell of Springtime and of childhood memories.

Memories of that same sweet aroma wafting through the kitchen windows of my childhood home when the breeze gently danced through the lilac branches in the back yard.

Lilacs are short lived, so you should definitely take the time to appreciate them.

Lilacs

One of natures finest gifts.  Lilacs.  Enjoy.

What a sweet OH you have...the lilacs are gorgeous! I can smell them from here :)

And I love the facelift on the blog as well! Awesome header :)

Love the new look, Robin. And, I LOVE lilacs, too. You can smell them from far away...we have something similiar outside our place that are just amazing!

Okay, lilac season is my favorite time of year. I have a feeling it will be later this year because of the cold weather we've been having. My parents property is surrounded by lilacs on 3 of 4 sides and the smell just permeates the air. LOVE it! Wish the season was longer.

LOVE the new blog look. What an absolutely beautiful header!

I love the new look! The colours are great, so inviting and warm and the picture is beautiful!

I love your new header-is it France or Italy? And lilacs are my absolute fav-I was lucky to be able to pick them roadside in Italy-we can't grow them in southern CA...

oh, lilacs...I haven't even thought of them yet this spring. But I can almost smell them through your photos...I'll have to keep my eye out now :)

oh I love lilacs. My Mom has several, well I hesitate calling them bushes, more like large tree-wanna-bes, around her yard. I can almost smell them.
Your header is GORGEOUS!

Michelle~ Yeah, he's a keeper. This...and he modeled that bag I won. Remember that? That WAS funny!! I am glad you like the makeover...did it myself...which is amazing...

Cherrye~ Thanks...glad you like it ;) And lucky you for having some nearby!!

Erin~ So you totally get what I am feeling here!! Nice to know :) Thanks for the nice words about the banner...did it myself...won't tell you how many tries it took me .....

Joanne~ Aw, thanks sooo much!! Means alot. Took the photo myself in Tuscany. It has a special place in my heart ;)

Janie~ Thanks mia amica!! It is Italy...but I am kinda glad it looks like it could be either one :) Glad you could get your share of lilacs this year...didn't know they grew in Italy too...BONUS!!

Erin~ Yes you will!! They smell amazing here right now.

TACE~ I know. My OH got them from his Mom's yard and they are starting to get sooo tall that you can't even reach them to cut flowers :( Thanks for the nice comments about my banner!!

Lovely lilacs! I saw some at the rugby ground this evening when I was doing my walk/run around Longchamp.

Came here by way of Rochambeau. You are something else on a stick. Not sure what that means except an old friend used to say it when she thought someone was beyond cool. So I am stealing it here. LILACS! I just filled a vase with them yesterday and awoke to their sweet scent this morning. Our house is so small that one arrangement can be smelled from any room. Lovely photo.

Tara~ Merci Beaucoup ;)

Jenny~ You are too cute ;) Haven't been called that before...but I LIKE IT!!! Thanks for popping by...come by anytime. Mmmwwwwah :)

I know you don't much care for tattoos but after reading this entry, I thought I should share some photos with you. I had a lilac put on my wrist about a month ago. I was missing all of those abundant lilacs back in NY. The smell has always brought me back to my younger days, too! So, now I have them with me no matter where I am or what the weather is like! It really is pretty and lifelike, it almost looks like a corsage. Not a day goes by that I don't get a compliment on my latest addition to my growing collection.

P.S. My camera phone doesn't really do it justice. The colors and detail are perfect!

Oh no! Looks like you have photo commenting disabled. Now I'll have to forward my pictures to you so you can post them up on here. You can write a whole blog about your wacky sister in Chicago that can't stop getting tattoos. At least now you can't argue with my taste in them, though! :P

Hey lil' sis~ Yeah, you know I am not a fan, but lilacs are a good subject...so as long as you are happy....that's what counts ;) And I am not tech-savy enough to even know what photo-comments are!!!
